Bump Watch - 17 weeks

It's hard to believe another week has already gone by.  It's crazy.  There is nothing really exciting happening lately at our house.  So, why is this going to quickly???  I was just telling someone I am 16 weeks pregnant, and now I'm 17 weeks!  Before I know it, I'm going to be in the 20s and then the 30s! It all goes so fast!

Brian keeps telling me that I'm getting bigger and looking more pregnant now, but people are still surprised when I say something about being pregnant...like they didn't notice.  Do I just look like a fat girl wearing tight shirts???  Oye.

Let's get on with it!

How far along?  17 weeks.  Another week and a half and we'll have our ultrasound!

Weight Gain? I haven't gained any weight this week really.  Maybe half a pound?  I don't know, I don't really pay attention to the numbers after the decimal (I'm an English teacher, remember?).  I'm still at +18 lbs.

What's up with my Body?  Peeing.  All the time with the peeing!  I've been drinking a lot of water, because I've been getting headaches.  But I'm just peeing all the time!  We're going to need to buy stock in Charmin at this rate because I go through so much toilet paper!

After last week, someone told me that papaya enzymes help with heartburn, so I got some this weekend.  And, you know what?  I think they're actually working!  I was scared to take them at first because you have to chew them, but they actually taste pretty good.  I'm supposed to chew 3 after meals and then melt one or two in my mouth as needed.  But I've been just chewing 3 after meals if I'm uncomfortable (because I usually forget) and it's like the heartburn goes away immediately.  So glad to have found this remedy!

I was getting clothes out of the dryer yesterday and I was noticing how hard it was to bend over and look in there!  I had to hold my breath!  I haven't lost my balance yet, or bumped my tummy on something, but it is getting harder and harder to bend over!

Food Cravings?  I think I'm losing my taste for potato chips.  Maybe.  I'm not craving salty as much anymore.  Now, I just want sweet, juicy, and cold.  That usually means a popsicle (seriously, I ate like 8 the other day!), but sometimes an apple or a glass of juice will do.

Movement? As I sit here, at almost 4:00 in the morning (couldn't sleep, tummy was hungry), I am feeling the baby a TON!  Maybe it's because I just ate some cereal?  Maybe it's because it's the middle of the night?  I don't know, but he/she is totally active!

The other night, Brian spent a good 10 minutes blowing raspberries on my tummy and then asking me if I could feel the baby kick in reaction to them.  Then, I don't know what what he said, but he had his head under the covers and he was whispering things to my tummy...I think they're bonding.

Gender? I'm really thinking it's a girl...but I don't know how to think any different, so I don't necessarily trust my instincts.

What I'm looking forward to:  More kicking and movement.

Best moment of the week:  Getting a pedicure on Saturday!

Worst moment of the week: Popping zits in weird places...like the top of my ear and in my nose!!

How baby's growing: This week baby's bones are hardening, his/her umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and he/she is forming sweat glands!!  Exciting.

Is 9:30am too early for a popsicle? haha
